Events of the Week:
- Language Workshop: This week we continued our author study on Laura Numeroff. We enjoyed some of her other books. One of our favorites was The Jellybeans and the Big Dance. The students also enjoyed her book of poems, Sometimes I Wonder if Poodles like Noodles.
- Writing Workshop: We continued working on our writing. We wrote responses to the books we read and continued working on writing events in order. We also wrote a series of events piece about our field trip.
- Reading Workshop: Students are working daily in Literacy Centers. While students are working independently, I am reading with individual students and doing assessments.
- Word Study: This week we focused on reading and writing all of our sight words.
- Math: We finished our unit on solid figures (cylinder, cone, cube, and sphere). The students enjoyed creating designs with pattern blocks.

May 16 – Last day of school! We will dismiss at 11am. Breakfast will be served, but lunch will not.
May 30 - Summer School Begins 8:00-3:15
Individual and Class Pictures
Spring pictures or payment was due today. If you have not paid for or returned your child’s pictures, please do so on Monday, May 8th.
Group/Class pictures are also available. If you would like one, please send $2 in an envelope with your child's name on it and the purpose (i.e class picture). I will then send a class picture home with your child. Thank you.
Reading Journey
Our final reading journey will end May 11th. Please remember your child must complete fifteen reading activities to participate in the read-a-thon on May 12th.
Information about the End of the School Year:
- Please return your child’s book bag if you have not done so already.
- Please make sure your child dresses appropriately (shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes) for Field Day on Monday, May 15th.
- School will be in session on Tuesday, May 16th. Breakfast WILL be served and lunch will NOT be served that day. We will dismiss at 11:00.
- Lunch balances must be paid & library books must be returned before your child’s progress report will be sent home.

Next Week:
- Our theme will be summer.
- In math we will review concepts from the year and play math games.
- We will participate in some fun end-of-the-year activities.
